Donations FAQ
Where does IDE's support come from?
IDE is a non-profit organization and, as such, depends on grants and donations to conduct all field operations.
Donor funds are used to create pro-poor market environments, setting the stage for the private sector to take over and continue delivering sustainable benefits to the rural poor.
By taking advantage of market forces, IDE is able to have far reaching, long lasting impact using modest resources.
Is my donation tax exempt?
IDE is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, so U.S. taxpayers may deduct donations to IDE to the extent allowed by the law. When you donate to IDE, you will receive a letter to confirm the amount and date of your donation. Always consult your tax advisor before taking deductions. If you are a resident of Canada or the U.K., please visit the IDE website for your country to find information about donations.
If you don't believe in giveaways, why do you need donations?
We do expect that farmers pay full production costs required in the local manufacturing and distribution supply chains. Our contribution is to develop new products and services, to stimulate the supply chains which produce and deliver them, to undertake social marketing programs which demonstrate the value of our offerings, and to look for new opportunities to offer our market based solutions. Ultimately, these solutions transform the lives of our customers by giving them income increases which, while small by western standards, empower them to access life changing opportunities.
How does IDE use my personal information?
IDE uses your personal information to inform you about current projects and events. You can opt out of our communications at any time, and we will never sell, rent, share or disclose personally identifiable information regarding our donors or subscribers to any commercial entities, marketing firms or non-profit entities. Read our privacy policy.
