Timothy Prewitt, CEO

Timothy Prewitt Most recently, Mr. Prewitt acted as Managing Director for Chemonics International in Nigeria. Prior to that he was Chemonics' Director for Asia and Europe/Eurasia Divisions and head of the Private Sector Practice stationed in Washington, D.C. Mr. Prewitt has worked in more than 15 countries in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East, for the Soros Foundation, UNESCO European Center for Higher Education, the New American School Development Corporation, as well as for private equity investors in China.

Elizabeth Ellis, Chief Operating Officer

Elizabeth Ellis Lizz brings more than 16 years of international development experience across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. Prior to joining iDE, Lizz held leadership positions in Washington DC, Morocco, and Nigeria at Chemonics International. As a seasoned expert in gender, M&E, and economic growth, Lizz is committed to fighting poverty through business. She is a Returned Peace Corps volunteer and speaks French and Moroccan Arabic. She serves on the Board of Directors for the newly-created Posner Center for International Development and holds an MPA/MPP with a focus on international non-profit management. Lizz joined iDE in 2013.

Bruce McCrae, VP, Management Systems

In this role Bruce oversees IDE Denver’s support systems for human resources, information/communication technology and legal matters. Bruce began his career with a decade as an international business attorney with the firm Oppenheimer, Wolff & Donnelly. Since then he has been involved in the international development world in both field and headquarters roles. Bruce is a U.S. national and has lived for a total of 16 years in Germany, D.R. Congo, Belgium, and Vietnam. He is a graduate of Yale University and the University of California, Berkeley (Boalt Hall).



Stuart Taylor, VP, Global Initiatives

Stu holds a M.S. in epidemiology from the University of Ottawa, where he developed a keen interest in international health. From 1998 to 2003 he worked with the Canadian Foodgrains Bank as the program analyst, with a focus on the nutritional impact of food aid and food security projects. With his family, he moved to Zambia in 2004 to serve as a volunteer with the Mennonite Central Committee. They returned to Canada in 2006, when he took over as Executive Director of iDE Canada. Stu remained in that role until 2010, then transitioned to the Director of iQ from 2010 – 2015. Stu was appointed to his current role in 2015.



Carlos Urmeneta, Country Director, Honduras

Prior to joining iDE in 2009, Carlos spent five years as Supply Chain Improvement Desk in Honduras for Ecom Coffee (Sogimex, SA); was a founding member of local NGO, Alianza para la Sostenibilidad (APS); and was a recipient of the Sustainability Award from Specialty Coffee Association of the Americas (SCAA). While with Ecom, Carlos collaborated with iDE to promote low-cost supplementary drip irrigation for specialty coffees. He also served as a trainee for Ecom's Agroindustrial oilseed operation in Paraguay and Brazil in 2003. Carlos holds a degree in Global Business from the University of Mobile in Alabama.



Nadja Schaefli, Country Director, Nicaragua

Nadja Schaefli-Kraenzlin joined iDE in 2008 as a consultant to explore the idea of creating a social enterprise in Nicaragua. Since 2010 Nadja is the Country Director of iDE Nicaragua. Nadja holds a Master of Science degree in International affairs and governance of the University of St. Gallen (HSG) in Switzerland with a strong expertise in rural marketing and development. Before joining iDE Nadja worked for the Swiss Mission to the UN in New York for the UNDP team.



Janet Trucker, Country Director, Burkina Faso

Janet Trucker joined iDE as Burkina Faso Country Director on March 25th, 2015. From 2011-2014 she served as the USAID Burkina Faso Country Program Manager where she was responsible for projects amounting to over 40 million USD annually. Her innovative programming and leadership almost doubled the funding for USAID in Burkina Faso. She has extensive experience in Africa, leading development organizations in Burkina Faso, Zimbabwe, The Gambia, and Madagascar. She holds an MA in International Development and Appropriate Technology from the University of Pennsylvania and a BA in Communication from Western Washington University.



Michael Roberts, Country Director, Cambodia

Michael Roberts has been with iDE since 2000 and has been Country Director of iDE Cambodia since 2002. Michael has twenty years of professional experience in water resources engineering and management of international development programs. Specific areas of expertise include private-sector development, small-scale irrigation, drinking water supply, and sanitation. International work has emphasized the integration of engineering, social, and economic considerations. Michael has a Master of Science degree in water resources engineering.



Deepak Khadka, Country Director, Bangladesh

Deepak brings over a decade plus technical and leadership experience in designing and implementing projects in Nepal focused on private sector market development, access to financial services for low income clients and a wide variety of agriculture value chain strengthening initiatives. Prior to joining iDE, he was working in Nepal as the co-founder and CEO of a not-for-profit organisation focused on improving the livelihoods of people living in the rural and remote hills of Nepal. He has worked on public health sector and social marketing with PSI, livelihoods engagement in post-conflict and emergency affected markets in Nepal through Practical Action and access to financial services in rural and remote mountains with Samriddha Pahad. He has an MBA in Marketing from Kathmandu University, School of Management.



Brian Kiger, Country Director, Ghana

Brian comes to iDE Ghana in June 2015 with more than a decade of international experience promoting private sector development in Central Asia and West Africa. He has a successful track record of providing leadership and technical guidance to culturally diverse teams while facilitating public private partnerships to resolve local challenges. As a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, he believes in the concept of “small is beautiful” and is able to link details to larger themes within the team with whom he works. One of Brian’s leadership hallmarks is mentoring team members while ensuring an effective structure is in place to lead committed teams to developing innovative market solutions.



Quang Nguyen, Country Director, Vietnam

Mr. Quang has been with iDE for 12 years, playing a key role in IDE's rural marketing and local private sector supply chain development, along with his managerial responsibilities for programs in Vietnam. Quang's background is in engineering, with a Master's Degree in Chemistry from Russia and an M.B.A. from the USA.



Marco Machado, Country Director, Mozambique

Marco Machado

Marco Machado joined iDE in June 2011, bringing 21 years of experience as a Project Manager in several business sectors ranging from agriculture, agro industries and building materials to tourism and capacity building programs. In Mozambique, he developed strategic and action plans at the sector, provincial and development program levels; business plans and value-chain analysis. He provided technical assistance to the agribusiness sector, working with donors such as the European Union, Development Bank of South Africa, World Bank, Dutch, Italian, French and Portuguese Cooperation. While in Cape Verde, he took part in a study to identify the country's investment opportunities, being responsible for the Macro-economic characterization and diagnosis, the conception of the Strategic Plan for the industrial sector, and for three pilot projects designed to attract international investment and support.



Luke Colavito, Country Director, Nepal

Luke Colavito

Luke has over 25 years of development experience in Nepal and other countries in South Asia. He has served as the iDE Nepal Country Director since 2008. He has led implementation of the Smallholder Irrigation Market Initiative, which was highly successful, informed the design of the Feed the Future Initiative in Nepal. He has played an important role in commercializing smallholder agriculture in Nepal thru the use of commercial pockets. Luke is integrating agriculture into climate change adaptation planning including a focus on water efficiency. Luke is leading iDE Nepal’s work in developing manufacturing and supply chains for micro irrigation technologies and for multiple use water systems (MUS) in Nepal.



Kebede Ayele, Country Director, Ethiopia

Kebede Ayele

Kebede started an iDE pilot project in Ethiopia in March 2005 and helped it grow to a full-fledged country program with legal registration in July 2007. Kebede has 23 years of work experience with government, non-government, and bilateral organizations in different capacities (grass-roots practitioner, trainer, planning officer and manager). He holds a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Sociology, a Post Graduate Diploma in Water Supply and Sanitation, and a Masters Degree in Sustainable Agriculture and Rural Development.



Ryan Weber, Irrigation Engineer

Ryan Weber

Ryan started working with iDE in 2009 as a GIS volunteer in Ethiopia and continued as a consultant in Ethiopia and Myanmar, primarily focusing on manual well drilling, low cost irrigation methods, low pressure drip systems, and small engine pump implementation. He is currently based in Denver, CO as an irrigation and water resource specialist. Prior to iDE, Ryan worked as an engineer for the East Columbia Irrigation District which provides irrigation water to nearly 700,000 acres of land. Ryan holds a B.S. degree in Biological Engineering and an M.S. degree in Irrigation Engineering from Utah State University.



Sarah Nuernberger, Project Manager

Sarah Nuernberger Sarah is the Project Manager for iDE’s Technology and Innovation Group, based in Denver, Colorado, working on renewable energy pumping, drip irrigation, and microfinance initiatives. She earned her BA in International Relations from Roanoke College and her MA in International Development, with a concentration in water and natural resource management, from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies.

Chris Nicoletti, Research and Evaluation Specialist

Chris Nicoletti

Chris first began working with iDE as an economics graduate student; he did his Master’s thesis on an impact evaluation of iDE Zambia’s RPI program. Before returning to iDE, he worked on impact evaluations for NORC at the University of Chicago, where he honed his expertise on the socioeconomic impacts of water development on household welfare and crop production. Chris has experience carrying out both randomized and quasi-experimental impact evaluations, as well as model-based impact estimation. He holds a BS from Linfield College in Economics and Psychology and a MS in Agricultural and Resource Economics from Colorado State University. He enjoys skiing, climbing, cycling and traveling with his wife, while residing in Boulder, Colorado.



Urs Heierli, Senior Program Consultant, Latin America

Urs Heierli

Urs has worked with iDE since 1987 when he was country director for SDC (Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation) in Bangladesh and then in India. He is an economist and is coordinating the Latin American program and acts as liaison person to SDC and partners in Switzerland.



Abdi Dinka, Controller

Abdi Dinka Before joining the iDE team in August 2011, Abdi worked for the Colorado Society of CPAs as a Senior Accountant in Denver. During her graduate studies, she interned as a Private Equity associate in New York. She was also with USAID and Commercial Bank of Ethiopia in various accounting and finance roles. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) with BA in Accounting from Addis Abeba University and MBA in Finance from Vanderbilt University, USA.



Ratana Kong, Accounting Manager, Asia Programs

Ratana Kong

Ratana has been with iDE for nine years, starting as an Administration Officer and contributing evermore to the organization, and ultimately achieved the position of Finance & Admin Director until recently hired to become Accounting Manager, Asia Programs from July 2014. Ratana’s current role is to focus on accounting and financial management oversight for Asia programs. Ratana has skills and experience in accounting and financial management for both profit and non-profit sectors. Ratana has a bachelor degree in Finance.



Megan Morytko, Budget Manager

Megan Morytko joins iDE as Budget Manager after years of experience at Save the Children, The Earth Institute and Oxfam America. In this role, Megan will provide oversight, guidance and monitoring of iDE’s organizational budget and project budgets. Megan is a graduate of the University of Vermont with a BA in Political Science and is currently pursuing a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University. She recently moved to Denver from the Northeast and looks forward to settling down and calling Colorado home.



Elizabeth Snow, Director of Special Projects

Elizabeth Snow

Prior to joining iDE in 2010, Elizabeth spent seven years working in the international development field in a variety of roles, including project administration, new business development, and business intelligence. She also has two years of experience with geographic information systems (GIS). She is a graduate of Duke University and the University of Denver.



Jamie Wright, Business Development Manager

Jamie Wright

Jamie brings eight years of experience in international development, including four years working in sustainable agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa, six months working in microenterprise in Latin America, and several years working for nonprofits and firms in the US. Her experience includes serving as a Peace Corps volunteer with World Vision in South Africa and two years with Abt Associates in Washington DC. She has an M.P.A from Indiana University’s School of Public and Environmental Affairs and a B.A. in International Relations from Wheaton College.



Dave Schutz, Business Development Manager

Dave Schutz

Dave joined iDE as an intern in October of 2013 and took on the role of Global WASH Business Development Manager in April of 2014. Previously, he earned an MA in cultural anthropology/international development and a BA in technical journalism, both from Colorado State University. Dave has over 15 years’ experience as a writer and editor and studied smallholder livelihoods in the Ecuadorian Amazon from the perspective of students of an NGO-run technical high school focused on ecotourism, agriculture, and microenterprise for his master’s fieldwork.



Andrea (Anya) Briggs, Business Development Associate

Anya joined iDE in July 2014. She received her B.A. in Psychology and M.S. in Community & Social Development from Case Western Reserve University. Anya became interested in integrating business and social development while interning at the Fowler Center for Sustainable Value. For her master’s fieldwork, she researched and published a teaching case on a social enterprise in Mexico City. Anya has also gained international development experience in Bangladesh and Ecuador where she studied microfinance and ecotourism and interned with Grameen Bank. Anya supports the business development team in Cambodia, Bangladesh, and Vietnam and loves living in Southeast Asia.



Max Churchfield, Business Development Associate

Max Churchfield

Max joined iDE in July 2014 after graduating from the University of Colorado at Boulder with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and a B.A. in Anthropology. During his time at CU, he spent a summer conducting ethnographic research with Sherpa communities in the Everest region of Nepal, and subsequently returned the following two summers to work with Engineers Without Borders on water access projects. In his current role with the business development team, he will be based out of iDE's offices in Ghana, Ethiopia, and Nepal, and couldn't be more excited for the opportunity!



Sophie Aigner, Business Development Associate

Sophie Aigner

Sophie comes to iDE with a background in international development, including a BA in Global Studies from Arizona State University and international work in Latin America, Asia, and sub-Saharan Africa. Her experience includes working for various domestic non-profits and most recently serving as a Kiva microfinance fellow in Maputo, Mozambique, and Johannesburg, South Africa. Working as part of iDE’s business development team, she is based in Lusaka, Zambia, and Maputo, Mozambique, and enjoys supporting iDE’s business development initiatives and growing her expertise of sustainable agriculture in sub-Saharan Africa.



Dan Clark, Office Operations Manager

Sophie Aigner

Dan joins iDE with over seven years of in finance and operations in both the private and public sector. Previously, Dan worked with CBRE Group, Inc. as a regional research operations manager. He plans to use these skills at iDE to help support and improve iDE's operations, analytics and business development. Dan became interested in international development and social enterprise while completing his M.S. in Finance from the University of Denver's Daniels College of Business. For his master’s fieldwork, he researched and presented on the potential for venture capital investment in Tanzania and Rwanda.



KC Koch, Global Communications Manager

KC Koch

KC recently joined iDE from the advertising world. She has helped shape social marketing campaigns, build brands, and craft strategies based on audience insights. She will be applying her background in advertising, design and communications to promote iDE’s Global WASH Initiative. KC is a New Yorker who studied at La Scuola Lorenzo de Medici in Florence, Italy and later graduated from Potsdam State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts.
